As I grew up, my love for creating and constructing beautiful clothing only intensified. I taught myself to sew early on and spent weekends thrifting for unique pieces to DIY into my own original looks. Fashion design quickly became the obvious career path for nurturing my creative spirit.
After graduating from design school, I knew I wanted to keep sharing my passion. That dream led me to launch Chic Central—style blog, 100% fueled by fashion inspiration.
My Fashion Design Background
Spending several years immersed in the world of fashion design during my college program allowed me to soak up so much valuable knowledge about garment construction, textiles, trend forecasting, illustration techniques, and more. I learned the ins and outs of taking a design from initial concept to completed product. Things like choosing fabrics, creating flat sketches, draping patterns, and mastering finishing techniques.
With each new skill I added to my toolbox, my creativity absolutely flourished. My sketchbooks are filled with page after page of outfit designs, fabric swatches, and fashion illustrations. Even on days when I try to take a break, I always find myself doodling dress silhouettes and accessorizing them! I simply can’t turn off that constant flow of inspiration. It’s such a rush bringing those visions to life through quality couture pieces.
Launching Chic Central
After graduating, I knew I wanted to keep nurturing my creativity while also sharing my world of fashion with others who appreciate it. So I decided to take a leap by launching Chic Central as an outlet to connect with fellow fashionistas.
Through trend reports, style diaries, and posts spotlighting my original illustrations, I give readers a glimpse into how I draw inspiration from art, nature, architecture, and culture around me. I also share my personal collections of vintage, handmade, and upcycled pieces—always styled into eye-catching outfits. My goal is to inspire people to embrace their own creative forms of self-expression through fashion.
Eventually, Chic Central also became a platform for me to bring some of my clothing and accessory designs beyond the sketchbook page—first through repurposed and upcycled pieces for myself, then expanding into small original collections for customers when there was interest. It brings me immense joy seeing my artistic visions not just visualized but actually being worn and appreciated.
